What Is An Underbase?
A quick guide to the underbase

The easiest way to explain why an underbase is needed is to think of an underbase like an undercoat that you’d use before painting. An underbase is a white ink which is printed first to give a neutral base for the colours to be printed on top, this ensures the colours are accurate & vibrant. An underbase is required when the garment colour is darker than the ink colour.

Here are some examples of prints with & without underbases

Hopefully this has helped you understand why an underbase is needed, but if you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
